5 Must-Visit Savannah Boutiques: Savannah Hidden Finds

Must-Visit Savannah Boutiques are a big deal because what better way to shop in southern cities. You can find unique gifts if you are willing to search for them. Let’s be honest, the search is part of the experience, so here are a few boutiques to put on your Savannah Boutique hit list.

Diaspora MarketPlace

Diaspora MarketPlace is located on MLK Blvd next to the Ralph Mark Gilbert Civil Rights Museum Inc and offers a way to bring Africa to your home. This storefront carries African art from scattered nations. Owner, Richard Shinhoster and his late brother, Earl T. Shinhoster, visited the continent following a lifelong interest in African history and came back and opened the Diaspora Marketplace. The storefront plays a major part in Savannah’s tourist industry through its welcoming reception of art seekers from all over the country and abroad. They even offer an art history on their website and the staff is knowledgeable too to answer any questions you need. Their fabric and musical instruments are my favorite curated pieces to learn about and purchase. This is my number one must-visit Savannah boutiques.

Morgan Rae

Morgan Rae Boutique is such a unique and trendy boutique downtown. Morgan Bryant, the owner hand-picks all the clothing and accessories in her store. I love the big clay earrings and the bright vibrant colors of the dresses and sweaters. Morgan Rae is an upstairs store on Broughton St – you can see their bright neon pink sign from the street. Go check them out!!

Paris Market

Paris Market has been in Broughton for the last 18 years and this store never ceases to amaze me! Paris Market is a locally owned café and “General Store” they carry products from candles to clothing to jewelry. I plan on doing the bulk of my Christmas shopping here – a one-stop shop. Plus, they carry a lot of black-owned products including children’s books. A great way to get the most of your experience at one of Savannah's boutiques.

The Impeccable Pig

The Impeccable Pig is also located on the West end of Broughton Street. Though they are not a locally owned boutique, they still offer all their customer’s a family-like experience.

September’s Closet

September’s Closet is located in the new Plant Riverside District and has a storefront on Skidaway Rd. It is becoming a new fave because they carry plus-size clothing. I think this sets them apart from a lot of other boutiques because most don’t carry past 12 or a large. Not every body shape is a size 12 and under. It’s nice to know there’s somewhere we mid to plus sizers can go and experience the full boutique shopping experience without being stuck to only choosing accessories.

Geechie Rootz

I’ve mentioned them before and I will mention them again, but I love Geechie Rootz. Geechie Rootz is one of the only black-owned boutiques in our area and they offer a plethora of things that make good gifts or personal self-care. This family-owned business that was formed in 2019 by husband & wife, Joey & Naombi Shokes is located in the Tanger Outlets in Pooler, they have curated an assortment of African printed clothing, natural black soaps, jewelry, and more. I love their body butter and handmade jewelry.

Geechie-Rootz

The boutique experience is endless in Savannah. If you are in a time crunch I would start with these places first. Our southern city has a way of drawing people back, so I am sure you will be able to visit more boutiques in Savannah on your next visit.

Comment below your favorite Savannah Boutique and which one off the list you have visited!

10 Cheap Things To Do In Savannah

Here are my top 10 cheap things to do in Savannah. Visiting Savannah for the first time? Or are you a local just trying to learn and do more in your city, but on a budget? You came to the right place! 1. Visit Forsyth Forsyth Park is one of Savannah’s most photographed and well-known parks and it doesn’t disappoint. It's a great place to walk or picnic and take in the beautiful scenery that is Downtown Savannah. If you are feeling really bohemian, bring your hammock to wrap it around the trees and hang. I think all tourists should at least walk through this park and every "Savannahian" should make it a habit to go out there and relax on the lawn. I frequent there a lot. This is literally number one of the cheap things to do in Savannah because it's free ! 2. Take an art class (Cultural Arts Center) A new addition to the city that is really exploring the city's love for the arts. The Cultural Arts Center offers many different classes such

Savannah Black Artists That Impact

In honor of Black History Month, let's talk about Savannah Black Artists that impact. “Keep In mind I’m an artist so I’m sensitive about my shxt” - Erykah Badu  What is art? Well, that answer is subjective. To me, art is whatever you can create with your head and imagine with your soul. The next question is, what is an artist? That is subjective too. To me, artists tend to be the unsung heroes who have the courage to manifest their emotions into the physical. We all have a little artist in us, but there are some that just shine above the rest.  Here are some of my favorite Black artists in Savannah (In no particular order): 1. Nae'Keisha Jones Nae'Keisha Jones is an illustrator and writer from Colorado, based in Savannah, Ga. She graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design with a B.F.A in Illustration with a minor in Creative Writing.  Destiny: “ What role do you see yourself playing in the Savannah art scene?” Nae’Keisha: “ I want

8 Things I Wish I Knew Before Going To Paris

Paris. The city of love and trends. Definitely a one of kind experience and a very beautiful place to see. Here are just a couple of first time Paris things I wish I knew before going . 1.The hot chocolate is amazing! By far my favorite thing I had in Paris. I am a chocolate lover and would like to think I am a connoisseur. The richness of the chocolates is what sets it apart from the normal hot chocolate we have in America. 2.Disneyland Paris is nice, but… I think visiting different Disney's around the world is a bucket list within itself. It was actually on my roommates that's why we went. It wasn’t bad and I still had a great time, but there are not a lot of rides like they have in Florida and two of the biggest ones they had there were closed when we went. Bummer. Don’t let this deter you from going because I would still recommend anyone to go that loves Disney. It is great to hear how your favorite characters sound in French! 3.Do Not eat aroun
